I’d never heard of an Eye Lash Lift until I came across Bellisima Rose’s post on a local Facebook group, I was instantly intrigued, and went to her page and was even more curious once I saw the pictures she had on there.
If you are a regular reader you will know we have previously mentioned the change in lashes and brows as we get older and especially as we go through the menopause, which made me think this new(ish) beauty treatment may be of interest to those of you who want to get your lashes looking like they used to, or perhaps even better!
Not one to shy away from testing out something new, I decided to message Josie, who is the owner of Bellisima Rose and see if she would be interested in me reviewing the treatment on our blog, Josie instantly replied and was keen to work in conjunction with us, so I booked myself in.
What is an Eye Lash Lift
Lash lifting or LVL lashes (which stands for length, volume and lift) is a relatively new treatment that enhances your natural lashes, widely known as the natural alternative to lash extensions. If included with a tint, your lashes will look as though you’re wearing mascara 24/7 as well as being longer and more voluminous. A conditioning solution is applied after the treatment, and no damage is caused to your lashes.
You can say goodbye to your eyelash curlers! Preserve your lashes from the trauma of manually curling them or constantly having extensions. Simply accentuate your natural lashes by giving them a LIFT! If you add a tint it looks like they’ve been curled and had mascara applied! Its an excellent treatment for stubborn and straight lashes. Brilliant for active lifestyles, summer & holidays! An Eye Lash Lift will add volume, accentuate length and add curve to your lashes!
Eye Lash Lift & Tint Review
Josie set up Bellisima Rose about a year ago, after having lash extensions herself for a number of years and deciding to become fully trained so she could do them herself. I’m sure she won’t mind me saying, she is a young lady (early twenties) who has set up her treatment room at home and is keen to increase the treatments she offers but will also be specialising, rather than offering all the treatments standard beauty therapists offer. Hence becoming trained in the relatively new Eye Lash Lift treatment, Josie will also be offering a type of high definition brows in the very near future (I’m also going to give those a go!).
I visited Josie earlier this week for a patch test, to ensure I wouldn’t have a reaction to the products used, all was fine and I had my treatment yesterday.
I started by filling in the relevant forms, all very professional, whilst Josie asked if I wanted dark black or black tint on my lashes. Even that was a conundrum for me! To explain, the standard black is lighter and more natural look, whereas the dark black looks more like you are wearing mascara. As the whole point of me having the tint was so I wouldn’t have to always put mascara on, I opted for dark black, with some trepidation as I have very fair lashes and brows, as you will see in the upcoming photo’s, but in for a penny in for a pound!
Next I laid on the bed and Josie talked me through the process, which I will now go through…
Eye Lash Lift Prep
To start, I removed all eye make up and then Josie covered my lower lashes with an under eye protector and then put an eyelid shield on my top lid.
Glue is then applied on the top shield and Josie then carefully sticks the lashes to the glue, ensuring all the lashes are straight. This picture shows the top and bottom shields and the lashes already glued.
Next the perming solution is applied to the top lashes, which are stuck to the shield. This is left for between 8 and 12 minutes, depending on how long the lashes take to lift. Mine took 10 minutes.
Once the lashes had lifted, Josie removed the perming solution and then applied the fixing solution, which is left on for exactly the same amount of time it took the perming solution to lift, so in my case 10 minutes.
Once the time is up the fixing solution is removed along with eyelid shield and the bottom lash protector is taken off and placed under the lower lashes, ready for tinting.
This photo looks horrendous! But don’t panic it’s only the tint, which is applied to the top and bottom lashes, brushed down over the eye protector. Always keep your eyes shut or it will sting like hell, a lesson learnt a few years ago when I was getting impatient!
The tint only takes 5 minutes (half the time it takes the lashes to lift), Josie said the lashes take quicker due to the perming solution.
After 5 minutes the tint is removed, you need to give your eyes a good clean to get off any surplus tint. Josie had put Vaseline around the eye to stop the tint getting directly onto the skin, so you are able to simply wipe it off.
The skin around my eyes became ever so slightly sore, mainly from the protectors being peeled off and then having to clean the eye area afterwards, that soon subsides though. Next Josie gave me a nourishing solution to apply to my lashes, which helps condition them after the treatment. Lastly she explained not to wear mascara for 24 hours and that the lashes would continue to lift slightly and would settle to their finished position after about 48 hours.
With that my treatment was finished and I was left with these….
Yep, these are my very own lashes, with ZERO mascara applied! I can’t tell you how delighted I am. Imagine having to put mascara on just to take the dog for a walk or pop to the shops, it’s a bit of a pain. Yes I know it might be vain but it’s also a habit I’ve nurtured for over 30 years, and therefore very hard to get out of. I also had an ex who said I looked like a pig without mascara, so you can imagine why I don’t like to go without it! (Apparently it was a compliment???)
I’m lucky enough to have fairly long lashes, so have never felt the need to get extensions and now I don’t think I will ever need to, this little eye lash lift and tint does the job perfectly for me. This morning I applied one coat of mascara, which gave me a much more natural look (as opposed to my usual serum and 2 or 3 coats) and the one coat was more than enough and showed of the lift brilliantly!
Bellisima Rose also does lash extensions and I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending people to book an appointment with Josie, she knows her stuff, is very professional and only uses high quality products. If you are interested in booking an appointment or finding out more, follow this link to her Facebook page, you’ll find lots of information but also her contact details and I know she will be happy to answer any questions. Thank you Josie for my lovely new lashes, I’m looking forward to having my brows done and will be back to get the eyelashes redone in a few weeks time!
